sunny weather reminders
The sun is out and the temperatures have been summer like for us here in Michigan, so yesterday I spent a fantastic day at the beach enjoying the sunshine. After a few hours in the sun I was reminded of just how much we need to take care of our skin as the weather warms up and we head off for vacations to sunny locations. I admit yesterday in the joy of spending time with my family I forgot to take some precautions and have a rosy tone today.
We all hear about Sun block and SPF’s this time of year, I thought I would add to it by giving you some quick tips from Nancy of Picture Perfect Artistry to help you in preparing for your days in the sun. Nancy and Robin are the dynamic duo of Picture Perfect Artistry and the reason I have chosen to ask for their help is simple; They have worked in the cosmetic industry for over fifteen years with prestigious companies such as Estee Lauder, Stila cosmetics, and Nars to name a few. They also have the skill and knowledge to work along, and train with several celebrity makeup artists. We all want to look our best year around and in the weeks ahead Nancy, Robin and I will work on giving you some information that will help you achieve just that.
Foundation can be worn to the beach but as Nancy reminded me, “if the foundation is not sweat proof or transfer resistant it will come off.” She recommends trying a tinted moisturizer with an SPF15 or higher, she personally enjoys Stila’s tinted moisturizer.
Here are some more tips from Nancy:
- HYDRATE your skin is the key for the summer but in the summer you will be changing to a LIGHT moisturizer different from the moisturizer you have been using in the winter these will be less emollient.
- Sun Coverage is important and remember the suntan lotion you put on your body has oil in it please splurge and buy the sunscreen for the face and it is formulated just for this area.
- Lip-gloss/Balms for the beach are very important here again the lips can burn they need protection too. Look for glosses or sheer lipsticks that have SPF in them. Also do not leave these in the car on a hot day they will get ruined.
Thank you Nancy and Picture Perfect Artistry for your help in remind us how to prepare ourselves for all the sunny days ahead. I have my list started on what items I need to go out and replace in my cosmetic bag as soon as possible. Keep an eye out for more sunny weather tips in tricks in the weeks ahead!

I so wish I could be basking in the sun…we have been blessed with unseasonal days of snow! Crazy!
